Autumn in the Alpine

A sunset shot from my first ever solo hike up into the central mountains of Vancouver Island. I'm still just amazed at how beautiful this spot is. Having so much time up here to just relax and enjoy the scenery in solitude was a unique experience for me and one that I won't soon forget. I want to do another solo hike again soon, but the climate is only getting colder and I don't really enjoy sleeping in a tent when it's below freezing outside. But maybe I just need to suck it up... I mean, when you got views like this, you might as well suffer a bit right?

A very eerie foggy morning up in the meadows of Strathcona. What appeared to be unfavorable conditions while hiking in the mountains turned out to be some of the most stunning conditions I have captured while in the alpine.

The River of Emeralds

On the very first day of my 2019 Autumn Rockies trip, I left my place on Vancouver Island at 5am in order to catch the earliest ferry to Vancouver and then send it to the Rockies. My plan was to drive all day and hopefully arrive in Yoho before sunset. At first, it seemed pretty easy, but with all the stops we had to make for the dog, food, and gas; the time I originally had slowly began to run out. Thankfully though, I managed to get to Natural Bridge and Emerald Lake just 30 minutes before sunset. And I'm glad that I did, because we got one of the best sunsets from the whole trip while we were here. Well worth the full day of driving.

The River of Luminescence

One of the first photographs that I took during my roadtrip to the Canadian Rockies this past Fall. I caught the earliest ferry over to the mainland from Vancouver Island and sent it to Yoho Park in time for sunset. The light and clouds were stunning that evening and ended up being the perfect conditions for sunset. Glad that I was able to make it in time to catch that light before it was gone.
